Christina Harpster LMFT CMHS
(she/her)
Owner/ Clinical Supervisor
I am the founder and supervisor of CH Counseling and want to provide the utmost professional and therapeutic experience for the people I work with.
As a therapist, I believe that we are ultimately the experts of our own lives. My job in the therapeutic process is to be a part of the journey and assist in making the changes that are going to be more helpful and healing to my clients. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have been in the field working with youth and adults in various settings.
I work with couples, families, and individuals who have a wide range of symptoms that are impacting their daily lives. Some of the common symptoms clients come in for are: trauma, depression, self-harming behaviors, anxiety, low self-esteem, numbing or detached feelings from others, and suicidal ideations. I am a trained EMDR and trauma focused CBT therapist and I also practice with many relational approaches. My specialty is working with military personnel and veterans focusing on trauma symptoms and common issues in relationships due to the military culture.
Not only am I a therapist, but I am a mom, wife, sister, and friend. I am also a veteran, which is another reason why I enjoy working with the military. I love to travel and be with my family. I call WA state and IN home- luckily I have been able to plant roots in both places.

I know from personal and professional experience that it is possible to live a life of joy and optimism. Within each of us are deep wells of untapped potential. No matter what our mistakes, no matter what our struggles, no matter how our past may have shaped us, each of us has the free will to rise above all obstacles and transform ourselves. Each of us has the ability to form relationships that bring us comfort and satisfaction. Each of us has a contribution to make through our work and through our creative endeavors.
It is a courageous step to engage in the process of counseling, and well worth it! As Thomas Merton points out, “What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves. This is the most important of all voyages of discovery, and without it, all the rest are not only useless, but disastrous.”
My counseling is client-centered, focused on meeting you where you are at and helping you to make thoughtful and conscious decisions. You are the expert of your inner experiences. I will help you change with absolute respect for who you are and where you want to be. Together we will explore your strengths and discover what life can be.

I have had wonderful opportunities to travel and live abroad in many parts of the world, and I have lived in a number of different parts of this country, but when I first visited the Pacific Northwest more than twenty years ago, I knew that I was home. I enjoy hiking from time to time, but my true passion is paddle boarding in the Puget Sound year round.

My approach is rooted in creating a compassionate and judgment-free space for my clients to understand themselves and their relationships better. Our stories shape who we are, and through sharing and understanding those stories it is my belief that we heal ourselves, beginning to envision and pursue more self-directed lives. I have experienced first-hand the power of understanding in healing from traumatic experiences.
Each one of us has the capacity for a fulfilling life, however that may look for us as individuals, and we hold within us the tools to create that life. Through self-understanding comes small changes that ultimately lead to big shifts in our ability to be happy and thrive in our lives. Our lives are shaped by forces we cannot control and I recognize that our identities can play a role in that.
I grew up in Montana, which led to my love of the outdoors and the simple things in life: a good meal, a warm fire, and time with my loved ones. I feel the strongest sense of belonging when I am in nature, or just sitting under my favorite tree. You can also find me planning and maintaining my vegetable garden with my husband, visiting family and friends in and out of the country, or practicing one of my hobbies–cross-stitch is my latest addition.

I am a counseling intern passionate about understanding the connection between mental health and the unique challenges faced by individuals of all walks of life. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I value creating a welcoming, affirming space for all clients to explore their identities and experiences authentically. I believe that supporting the whole family system—parents, partners, and children—is essential to building resilience and fostering healing within communities. I’m particularly interested in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate anxiety, PTSD, identity exploration, and the lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences. My approach emphasizes empathy, trust, and safety, providing a space where clients of all ages and backgrounds can feel seen, supported, and empowered.
I was born and raised in Northern California, I have lived in Washington State since 2006. I have served in law enforcement for over 11 years, working both on the streets and in the intake and booking department for King County Jail. Additionally, I have proudly served 18 years in the U.S. Navy—9 years on active duty and 9 years as a reservist. I also value physical wellness and train six days a week to keep my body and mind strong. When I am not working, working out or going to school you will find me at home with my wife and our dogs.
